Beaches 

Within a short drive from Westport are the some of the most beautiful, longest and safest beaches in Europe, many of which have been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness and facilities.

Golf 

Westport Golf Course (10 minutes by car) is an 18 hole Championship Course, considered one of the best in Ireland. Visitors are very welcome but booking a tee time is essential. There is a golfing driving range also available at  Westport Golf Club. Telephone: (098) 28262.

Westports Leisure Park is a 4* award winning facility and is only a 2 minute walk from the hotel. Guests of The Wyatt Hotel have complimentary use of the amenities available. Tel : (098) 29160. Facilities include :

Cycling - The Great Western Greenway

Escape the bustle of urban life on the 42km Great Western Greenway Ireland's longest off-road walking and cycling trail in Ireland.  The world class Great Western Greenway is a traffic free cycling and walking trail which follows the route of the renowned Westport to Achill railway line which closed in 1937.

Westport House & Country Estate

Open throughout the year with a fun-filled and action packed line up of events and activities for all the family, Westport House and Country Estate is a must do when you visit Westport.  With 500 years of history, 30 rooms displaying original artwork and antiques, and 4 exhibitions on show, not to mention the outdoor Pirate's Adventure Centre for under 12's, and brand new this year a whole range of adventure activities for children aged 8 and up - including Zorbing, sailing, paddle boarding, canoeing, combat games and orienteering - Westport House really does offer something for everyone.

Mountain/Coastal Guided Walking Tours

A varied selection of mountain/coastal walks are available and can be tailored to meet a particular groups requirements/fitness levels.  Walks vary from 3 hour coastal walks to 6-7 hour mountain walks, and tours include walking guide and transport from/to The Wyatt Hotel.

Historical Walks

Guided walks of the Historic planned town of Westport are conducted twice weekly,during the months of July and August starting at the clock junction of Bridge Street and Shop Street. Walks may also be arranged by appointment. Tel: (098) 25862

Clew Bay Heritage Centre

The Clew Bay Heritage Centre is located at Westport Quay where you can learn about the history of Clew Bay Local Museum & Genealogical Centre Tel: (098) 26852. The Genealogical Service is backed up by an Extensive Computer Database, based on Church Records, School Registersand Rent Rolls, Cemetry Records, Census Returns and Local Newspapers and Street Directories 

Sea Angling

The Sea Angling grounds of Clew Bay are recognised as being amongst the best in Europe. The inshore waters of Clew Bay offer excellent shallow water angling, Almost every known species of fish existing in Irish waters has at some time been recorded in Clew Bay. Tel: (098) 41562.

Fresh Water Angling 

The fresh water angler is also well catered for with several productive rivers and lakes within easy reach of the town, Salmon, Sea Trout and Brown Trout can be found in most rivers while the larger lakes such as Lough Mask are capable of producing Ferox Trout and very Big Pike, There is free fishing for children on the Carrowbeg River which flows through the town. Sailing 

Westport has one of the famous Glenans Sailing Centres providing residential sailing courses, including Sail Board training.  Full details from the Westport Tourist Office or Glenans, Collanmore Island Westport, Tel: (098) 26046.

Rosmoney Westport is the base for Mayo Sailing Club. A picturesque cruising ground exists among the archipelago of Islands in the East of Clew Bay.  There are slipways at Rosmoney, Westport Quay and Old Head suitable for launching dinghies and trailer.  Contact Tel: 087 1263820.

Cinema

Westport Cineplex is situated beside the Westport Leisure Park. This 4 screen theatre shows the most up to date movies and is open daily, with onsite shop and matinee shows during the weekends and summer. Tel:(098) 24242.

Shopping 

Shopping in Westport offers something that little bit different.  It successfully mixes traditional and cosmopolitan outlets to ensure your shopping experience is enjoyable and unique.  Buy locally produced goods such as knitwear and pottery, or browse through the wide range of contemporary fasion boutiques, book stores and music outlets.  And when you need a break, enjoy one of the local coffee shops offering fresh homemade fare.
